NCIS or NCIS is an American police series, created by Donald
Bellisario and Don McGill Paul, and put on air from September 23, 2003 in the
United States on CBS and Canada's Global network.
The series is broadcast in France since March 3, 2004 on M6
in VM, Quebec since January 2, 2006 Historia, Belgium on RTL-TVI and
Switzerland on a RTS.
It has a team of field investigators and scientists from the
Naval Criminal Investigative Service, led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs agent, whose
members are trying to solve criminal cases related to the US Navy. This team
has the distinction of being made up of very colorful characters that have
friendly relations, sometimes complex.
It is a spinoff of the series JAG, also created by Donald
Bellisario. In fact, the characters of Gibbs, DiNozzo, Abby and Ducky make
their first appearance in episode 20 (The Snowmen) and 21 (The Ghost) of the
eighth season of JAG.
NCIS was a great success in the United States where it is the
most watched since 2009 (seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth seasons) TV series,
with an average of more than 19 million viewers per episode. According to a
Harris Interactive survey conducted in March 2011, it is also the most popular
series of American viewers. This success stems mainly due instead left to the
humor and to relations between characters.
The distribution includes actors Mark Harmon, Cote de Pablo,
Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and David McCallum, all present in the seven
players the most popular US television series, according to a survey in 2011.
